The scientific library of Zhangir khan WKATU was founded simultaneously with the opening of the agricultural institute in 1963. In 1964, there were 10700 storage units in the library, at the moment the book collection consists of more than 800 thousand storage units, 9798 electronic resources and 61254900 network remote license documents.
In 1982, the library moved to a new typical three–storey building with an area of 2912.4 m2.
In 2018, the scientific library was renamed the «Parasat» information and educational center (hereinafter referred to as the «Parasat» information and educational center).
Our mission: providing information resources for current educational, scientific and research processes by providing the most complete library and information products and services using modern information and communication technologies, improving the information culture of users.
The main tasks of IOC «Parasat» are:
• Creation of a modern system of interaction with institutes, higher schools to increase the efficiency of using information resources of IOC Parasat;
• Formation of a portfolio of modern information and educational services of the IOC;
• Formation of IOC services aimed at the development of scientific communications and research support;
• Education of the information culture of users, training them in the effective use of books and information resources based on new technologies;
• Full and prompt reference, bibliographic and information support for user service;
The following services are available to users: a reading room (educational literature and scientific industry journals in open access for independent work), a hall of electronic resources (using computers for individual work, consultations on working with databases), subscriptions of educational and non-fiction literature (home delivery of educational literature for 1 semester, fiction for 2 weeks), scientific-bibliographic service (release of bibliographic products, execution of bibliographic queries).
The Coworking center has been open since November 2019. The coworking is divided into areas for collaboration (discussing your business ideas, creative projects, etc.), for individual work with open access to periodicals and for conducting trainings, seminars, and other events.
There are two large halls in our center, one of which has Bookcrossing shelves (Bookcrossing), for the exchange of books from users’ personal libraries equipped with seating. Along the perimeter of the entire center, any user can use free Wi-Fi.
«Parasat» IOC is actively mastering the latest technologies. The modern software of the IRBIS 64+ sub is used to comply with the bibliographic description of international standards. Since the beginning of 2023, the center has implemented the Wallet system, which allows replacing the traditional reader’s form with an electronic one, which each user can download to his phone when registering on the site. To register, you will need to enter the number of identification cards of employees and students of the university (ID card). The electronic reader’s form will allow you to get all the information about current issues, including the deadlines for the return of documents and monitoring their compliance, which will prevent negative situations associated with the delay in the return of literature. An ELARSCAN A2-400R planetary scanner is installed in the electronic resources hall, with which users of the center can scan the necessary pages of selected literature and send them to themselves by e-mail or to a USB flash drive.
On the website, in the Electronic Catalog section, authorized users can search for publications by fund and go to full-text databases.
Full-text databases, an electronic library, and a Web Cabinet are available for authorized users on the site.
An electronic library is an ordered collection of electronic documents equipped with navigation and search tools. A significant part of the content of the electronic library consists of digital copies of the works of the staff of WKATU: educational and methodological manuals, monographs, dissertations and abstracts of dissertations, articles from periodicals and ongoing publications.
The Web-Cabinet is designed to gain remote access to new arrivals of the «Parasat» IOC. You can request any article you are interested in from a magazine or book, from anywhere in the world and from any device. Requests are processed within three business days. The result of the request will be on the same page from where the request was made.
The repository is an open electronic archive of documents of the Faculty of the University, who published their materials in the publications of the WKATU or in other publications and transferred to the university the right to post them on the Internet.
The Online services section allows you to use Electronic Document Delivery (EDD), help desk (Your question), verification of a scientific journal, editing bibliographic lists, assignment of UDC, BBK, MRNTI, JEL.
«Parasat» IOC participates in such International projects as MARS (Interregional Analytical painting of articles), Electronic document delivery ARBICON (Association of Regional Library Consortia), SEB Lan, and in the Republican Project of Higher Education Institutions of the Republic of Belarus (Republican Interuniversity Electronic Library), which provides users with access to modern information databases. International abstract databases of WebofScience companies ClarivateAnalytics, Scopus and full–text resources of ScienceDirect (Elsevier companies), licensed resources of the Electronic Library system “Lan”, Scientific journals eLibrary are available to our users under a national license.RU, business news Polpred.com .Also, every user on our site will be able to get acquainted with Open Internet resources.
Being the information, educational and cultural center of the university, IOC «Parasat» actively participates in obtaining high-quality education and training of highly qualified specialists; provides a book fund and relevant electronic resources corresponding to the norms of the university’s educational programs; is in constant development of interaction with higher schools: analyzes the needs of users, provides information services, systematically holds exhibitions of new receipts, training seminars, cultural events.
